Dream Engine

The Faculty of Arts at The University of Winchester, in collaboration with The Point, Eastleigh, The Winchester Hat Fair and the street arts company Wet Picnic, are this summer mounting emerge Street Arts Festival. The emerge festival is designed to promote new and emergent talent in the exciting and growing field of street arts. Through two strands, each covering one of two dates, the Festival will promote community awareness of, and engagement with, street arts through workshops with schools on the theme of the Olympic Games and also through a day where exciting emerging street arts companies and performers - who are seeking to establish professional careers in this field - have the opportunity to showcase their work to a public audience as well as a range of street arts programmers.

As well as providing an opportunity for emergent companies and artists to perform in a range of public sites and settings within the centre of Eastleigh, a programme of discussions, seminars and workshops will be provided on various aspects of professional development within the street arts sector – a particular focus will be afforded to the opportunities that are likely to be available to emerging street artists through the staging of the 2012 Olympic and Para-Olympic Games in the UK.
